Ok, i'll try not to be harsh.
1. Get some self-confidence.
2. Try not to be so desperate, the moment you start looking for a GF, people of your age group will be turned off, hide your desire.
3. Stop thinking your so different, I went through the same phase as you and alot of people do.
4. Drop the hat.
5. Smile and say hi to people whom you know.
6. Get some guy friends first before looking for a GF.
7. Being angst won't get you anywhere.
8. Personality comes before looks.
9. Girls like fun loving guys, so relax more and have fun.
Personally im about the same age as you, and I have said stuff college relationships due to some painful experiences, being in a relationship is not all it is cracked up to be, yea its great while you are at it, but the pain of break-ups is incredible. You may think you are in a bad situation now, but it can be amplified through relationships.
If I was you I would concentrate on building friendships with guys and girls, and save relationships for later, you will find it better in the long run, and if you learn how to communicate with people better then it will help you get a GF later.
