Hm. Yes, it is right in the heart of the city. And, no, you wouldn't have heard a lot about it. Bit of a keep-to-themselves bunch. It's just off a charming little park where oddball orators used to and may still, literally, get on their soapboxes and hold forth. Sounds as if a visit there was meant to be...right about now. I mean, what are the odds an ex-Chicagoan in Alabama would happen to mention in his second post to your introduction thread a place of interest only a few blocks away from one of your regular stops? Bit of the Twilight Zone afoot, I'd hazard. The few times I went there, the library itself struck me as somewhat out of the Twilight Zone. Reminded me of The Cloisters in New York. Like both were parts of some secret society lurking in the background of everything.
