You say "a lot of people get freaked out" - who exactly are you discussing sex in detail with? Co-workers? School kids? Church groups?

My rule of thumb is to avoid discussing your sex life in any detail with anyone other than your partner (or a therapist). Details should be kept to yourself since they involve another person who may have a greater need for privacy than you do.
