In my experience, it depends on how long it is. There was a point in time when my pit hair was so long, that my arms would be at my sides and when I'd cruise in a wife beater, hair would be sticking out. It was ridiculous. I just trim it down a little bit so that its not out of control. But I would never shave it off, unless a really hot girl that I was really into wanted it gone.
