| He was the person that Bush nominated to fill the Supreme Court vacancy, Tone. The concern is that the court is already leaning to the right, and Bush is nominating people who may be hard-right, which will upset the ideal (a moderate court). Ideally, the Supreme Court is supposed to balance out the power of the President, but it looks like Bush is attempting to stack the court with "his people". Actually, we should ALL be afraid. The Supreme Court is just as powerful as the president, only their appointments last their entire lifetime. We could be stuck with a far-right court for a very, very long time. Issues you might expect to see before the court in the future include stem cell research, abortion rights, separation of church and state issues, the legality of torture, etc.
