I think Iran pulls many strings in Iraq, now that Shia muslims make up the majority in parliament and the government. Many clerics in Iraq have allegiance to Iran. If Iran is attacked Iraq has a big chance of plunging into chaos (And we are talking about the next Vietnam here, what happens in Iraq right now would be viewed as millitary training).

But, then again, that's just my view on things...
