I totally agree here. If you sent out 3 e-mails without any reply from her you were giving off 'IM DESPERATE' signals. You should have started off slowly, send 1, wait for a reply only then follow up with a second.
It also depends on the time frame between you sending the first and the third. I mean sending 3 e-mails over the space of a year is fine but 3 over the space of a week is again coming across as desperate.
