I agree with what everyone has said here. We all do these nasty little things to friends and people we care about now and then. It's just our insecurities speaking. So I'm sure if you just apologize and explain, everything will be just fine. He obviously has some insecurities as well, if he feels the need to rub all his 'conquests' in your face.
