Absolutely
Though, there are levels of friendship
For example I have friends who are girls whom I don't find attractive and never will. But they are good friends and I enjoy their company. Nothing's ever gonna happen between us. They are friends only.
Then there are friends with which there is some form of attraction going on, but they are not a good match. Something might happen at some point in time, but this will be as far as it will ever go.
Then there are friends who are real prospects, i.e. at some point in time the attraction may swing towards relationship.
So you have to keep in mind different layers of friendship
