Are you that excited by formalities?

Okay so little ex girl finally came up to talk me while I sat alone in the Indian restaurant. Mind you I know she's been avoiding walking anywhere near my house for the past 4 months, altering her whole route map to ensure no glimpses of me studying on the porch.

But she comes in just all smiles and greetings, freezing my fork mid-gosht. "What'd you get?" "How are you?" "How is school?" "How are you?"

Am I just that much of a sociopath that this type of meeting with an ex doesn't strike me as exhilarating?
Is she just going through the motions?
Is that what you do?
Or does it make sense to suddenly collapse a semester of no contact into some sort of cute chat?
Is that fun?
Necessary?

Mind you she looked quite immature for my current sensibilities.
