In theory this sounds like it can work fine, but from my experiences in high school the kids who had married parents ended up in far less trouble, had much better grades, were more emotionally stable etc. I think if people are genuinely committed to their significant other they will get married, which leaves the people in more rocky / less committing relationships unmarried. I think marriage just confers some benefits for the kids that you can't get otherwise
