Well, this guy never felt much love from anyone else. When she talks about how much she loves him and loves being with him and says he's so sweet and stuff, he gets all happy.

Perhaps the emotion is causing his blood to rush? Apparently he's only physically turned on and when it happens he doesn't really crave sex the way he would if he was sexually turned on.
