Different culture/race should never really matter. But you'd have to be blind to not realize that some cultures are inherintly different then American ideals. That could be good or bad. My brother in law lived in Greece for 10 years and knows that many of them actively participate in affairs without feeling any remorse or guilt. My friends wife is Japanese and she feels that no matter what he does, she should stay by his side and follow, never lead or be the one in charge of important choices even if she doesn't agree.

Culture does matter but only with attitude and behavior, it never defines what someone is capable of in terms of intelligence, personality, emotions, morals and love.
