i dunno but since he told you first that he's got a crush on the girl.. why dont you just stay back for a while.. see how things are going between your buddy and the girl.. if things seem to be NOT going great for your buddy, then maybe you could open it up with him and see things from there. at least you didnt go head to head with him.
