Inaugural Book Thread
So we've got an official home for threads on books!

I guess we can kick this off by talking about what kind of literature you like to read, what you're reading now, what you're thinking of reading in the future, what book you've read that you'd like to discuss..what color your bike is, and anything else you want relating to books or not...no wait.. it has to be related to books, or else this would go under the Gen Discuss section.

Oh, by the way...raverboy is unofficially banned from this thread because he said he hates to read. Now since I don’t have any real power, this will have to be an honor system ban. So raverboy..if you’re reading this, you’re already in violation of your ban because the ban includes both reading and posting on this thread.

Okay, now that that’s out of the way.. I’ll start:

Blue and I were discussing a book we both read called “Life of Pi” by Yann Martel. Has anyone else read this one?

Now, EVERYBODY has read “The Davinci Code” by Dan Brown …does anybody want to discuss this one?

Right now I’m actually reading an old book “It” by Stephen King. I want to finish it and then watch the miniseries because I don’t think I ever watched the whole thing.

Oh, another thing..let’s not spoil books for others here. Or at least give warning before you do, for example in Life of Pi, the main dies in the end. See, I should not have done that without warning you first that a spoiler was coming up. Now this was just a joke, obviously, but seriously, let’s not ruin books for one another.

Next I think I’ll read the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I was inspired to read it after seeing “League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”…though I was unimpressed with the movie.

Some co-worker told me when this movie was coming out that the Dorian Gray character was actually inspired by a book called “The Golden Key”, but that wasn’t true, as it turned out, but I read “The Golden Key” by Melanie Rawn, Jennifer Roberson, and Kate Elliott (collaboration) anyway and really liked it. It’s a fantasy-type fiction…and an epic as it takes place over the span of many, many years. Did anyone else read it?

Okay, enough for me..now you contribute.

Freddie
