K, I remember requesting this a long time ago, and I'm going to do it again. I have more people backing me up this time.

I hate the fact that people can just randomly look my name up on Google and find this place. I just had a moron on another forum look my name up and find this place. It sickens me.

Advantages:

More privacy
Forums will grow more effectively if people have to join
LoveForum doesn't get hacked as soon as a vB security exploit comes out

Disadvantages:
None.

-----------
Do not lock the thread. I have the right to argue my point.

I agree as it can prove to be very benificial for the forum. You know with having "cool" people such as Tone and all leaving the forum, this place is just so "uncool" now.

LoveAdmin, Eurasian was being sarcastic about Tone. He agrees with me.

I agree with me, and that's what is important. Gigabitch and Vashti agree with me, even if they think they don't.

Everybody agrees with me.

LoveAdmin, you agree with me too. Just admit it. Make things private. Please.

Someone who shall remain nameless is making me post in this thread and say that I agree, but what I REALLY want is a spell-check system. :D

Actually, I'm a little weirded out by the fact that you can google "gigabitch" and the first thing that comes up is on one of my posts here on LF. I must admit that the appeal of posting on certain other forums is that there is a feeling of community and privacy, while here on LF it kind of feels like I'm posting on a billboard.

I am not that worried about the privacy thing with my nick as the first thing Google shows is a city name Jurupa (I am not joking either). But I also take steps to make sure my real name and stuff are hidden and are private as well.

But in some ways I do agree with Z that the forums should be made private and you have to register to see the posts. Ya it may make people not want to join, but there other forums that do this as well. Heck there are ones you have to pay to gain access to even. And some you have to pay a membership fee.

I also agree with Giga about the community thing as well. And with outsiders that can look in easly and do profiles on us (its not that hard actually), it can put us in danger.

I went through 10 google pages and couldn't find myself. This is obviously why I am not as concerned as skaterboy.

And therefore you agree with me, and therefore you are right.

WTF? Why is my SN the first thing that pops up, followed by some computer geek stuff, and then fourteen pages of Dutch porn?

My screen name is biblical, so I think most of the sites for my name were midrash, and a couple of artists, too.

I agree about the privacy thing. It's not a good thing that it's relatively simple to find your name in google on this place considering a lot of what is posted isn't meant for certain people to read.

Amazingly, I agree. When I look up my SN, my LF profile is the ONLY thing that comes up. I don't see anything wrong with requiring a profile to view. First of all, it's free and people don't have a reason not to create a profile. Then they can post also, which is the whole point of a forum.

I think an up in privacy is needed.

I think it would be really cool if people could only see the index without registering, or maybe the first page of a thread. Complicated.

Wouldn't solve the Zarathu-follower problem. Why don't you change your SN, Z?

No, only the index. The threads would be hidden as it would be replaced with "Private" when a guest arrives.

How do you change your SN, anyway?

You have to PM loveadmin and ask him to do it for you, or you just register a new one.

Ah, so that's how you got yours changed from SK8R, or whatever it was. I don't want mine changed, I just wanted to know how to go about it, in the event that I one day do.

Heh, Vashti does it all the time. I didn't figure once could hurt. I'll try not to let it happen again.

Zarathu is a better SN, anyway.

Vashti is special...and female.

Zarathu is my real one. I was like the rest of the people on here and wanted to use a fake alias so that nobody would know who I was. Then, I stopped giving a shit.

That's thoughtful of you to be less strict with the mentally disabled females around here.

I am the same way, but I haven't stopped giving a shit, yet.

hahahaha... i guess i'm another one of those lucky ones who used a common sn verses something like gigabitch. well here's what i got...

Love Forum - View Profile: Gigabitch
Gigabitch has a spectacular aura about Gigabitch has a spectacular aura about ... Gigabitch is not a member of any public groups ...

however, i noticed when i typed both raverboy and illusional, the forum was the only thing to pop up. while i'm not against people finding me on the internet, i don't really give a rat's ass, i know that there are others who do. i would suggest, keep in mind that the internet is public. whatever you post, say, show off on your home camera, and you actually put this shit up for everyone else to see, you're basically forfeiting all your rights to those privacy claims. haha not exactly what you had hoped for huh zara??

on the other hand, i'm already registered with this forum and it's not a bad idea to give some people the sense of privacy that they are looking for...
