View Full Version : 6 year old nephew died

My nephew, age of 6, died today from asthma. But in return, I get a newborn nephew in the other side of my family. I'm a little distraught, mostly because he died so young.
Oh, hell YES you are a little distraught! That is really terrible news. I am really sorry.

My family does not believe in euthanasia, and he was on a machine. Today they pulled the plug, after the realization that there was no coming back for him consciously.
I'm still not sure how it happened.. probably hear it eventually. My half sister is losing it right now - completely understandable. Hopefully she'll feel better someday. Same thing happened with my aunt... well sorta.

oh man i'm sorry lilwang.
I don't know how a parent decides to pull the plug (not that I think it is wrong, I just don't think I could). This child's mom is going to have a hole the size of the Grand Canyon in her heart, poor thing.

I don't know how I could ever do that either. I vote we just get rid of those machines, they don't do much good other than make us have to make a horrible decision.

it sucks when young people die. it makes you realize how short life is. and how life can end long before you get old. it's really sad.

Live for the moment Misombra. What burns the most is when someone extremely close to you dies. When my grandmother died, a very long time ago, I really went down the tubes. She was the closest person to me at that time.

is this the son of your sister or your brother?

My half sister. Some of my siblings are so old that I actually am a great uncle now.

that poor girl. she'll be in my thoughts.
How horrible :(
I feel bad for your half sister dude, I hope this wasn't their only child

Unfortunately it was their only child. I think that is a good thing though. Parents tend to put the surviving sibling in a sort of padded environment, if you know what I mean.

My condolences to you and your family :(

My step father and I both work at the same place, and the ****ing CEO doesn't understand anything. He is a greedy bastard. Can you believe that he actually would not allow leave so that we could go to the hospital? I couldn't finish the job on account of what happened. I walked out on them. Hopefully they will allow me to finish the job this week... otherwise I may take them to court. Haven't been paid compensated for thousands of dollars worth of work.

I don't have any kids but I can imagine what it must feel like to have to make such a decision, or to lose a child for that matter. Seems like the hardest thing in the world.
My condolences to everyone in your family.
