View Full Version : Problem with this forum...that can be fixed!

Not really a problem so much as a minor issue.

However!

I propose that the whole "ask a male" "ask a female" sub forums are junk. As both males and females ask and respond anyway.

Not only that but most people that want specific advice from said genders, will place it in their titles anyway.

Not only that, but when you hit the "New Posts" link, it doesn't separate the threads into their respective categories.

In any case, I think that if we were going to continue to organized the forum in a different fashion, how about some kind of "Internet and Long Distance Relationships" sub forum? They're becoming increasingly popular (unfortunately), and I think it would be good to know the nature of the problem before entering.

Any other suggestions?

I concur to all suggestions.

I again would like to suggest we figure out some way to prevent old, inactive threads from being bumped. It's annoying to respond to threads only to find out they are 5 years old.

I'd also like a "tell me what I want to hear rather than what you think" sub forums, or a cry-baby forum.

Would the "tell me what I want to hear rather than what you think" sub forum or cry-baby forum be a "Consolation Forum"?

I guess that depends on the OP's reaction. Some whine, others tell you to fcuk off and die, but I suppose they are related. Some crybabies don't mind you disagreeing with them as long as you are willing to write a 10,000 word sugar-coated essay when responding.

i don't mind the ones that tell everyone to fcuk off and die, it's all about expression on here right? some advice is harsh to vulnerable people so i think it's ok that they get angry coz like lite said previously in another thread; at least it's anger and not self pity leading to more self doubt hopefully. it's all about getting thru the break up stages right?

Wait. Does that mean I'd have to be nice to GrkS for posting his damned essays?

On 2nd thought... :P

i miss gskorp. i wanted to tell him before he left that he would spend less time here if he shortened his posts. but then it wouldn't be him i guess. :(

anyway, yeah. a tell me what i want to hear forum. that'd be great.

Besides, there are ways even with a Sugar Coated section to make a point. Hyperbole works well in these cases. If they complain its over the top, they jump into the regular free for all. Whatever, I'm sure you get it.

Maybe it can be called "Please be nice to me" forum?

I should have made a poll...anyway, does anyone disagree with getting rid of the ask a male, ask a female forums?

Yeah, it shouldn't be hard. just a php line that makes the forum close a thread after such and such a date.

I would like to be able to view the forum more discreetly. I hate that big Love Forum banner. I always have to check over my shoulder. I'd rather be busted looking at porn than being on this site.

Maybe the forum can be renamed to "STFU forum".

Should totally make an "Online relationship problems + WoW is killing me" sub-forum.

We need a section for college girls who fall in love with their professors too.

How about a section for our misogynist population?

Any way we could maybe lock them there? Just curious...

I have a problem with the forum, I can't start new threads, it just keeps timing out! Also I keep getting randomly logged out. Anyone have any ideas why or how to fix it?

when you log in first you can tick the box to keep you logged in, if you tick it then your cookies will be logged i presume

Ah, thanks for that, I'll try that.
Any ideas why I can't start a new thread, is anyone else having that problem?

you need to go into the suitable section area of the forum and click 'new thread' in the top left and start writing :)

Thanks, I tried that multiple times, but it just keeps timing out and not posting it :( I'll try again now, see if it's fixed.

*edit* Still no luck, I get this message:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/love/public_html/includes/functions_vbseo.php on line 4683

^^ how about you write what you want to say in a notepad or word and then paste it in? then hopefully it won't time out, try that :)

personally i use the "new posts" button everytime that i come here. it doesn't bother me that the threads are jumboed into one huge category.

I had no idea there was such a button. I need to try it.

I think we need a test thread in the Please Be Nice to Me forum to see if anyone is actually capable of being nice :)
Edit:
Done. in Love Advice.
