Whenever I put a link in a post, with standard URL tags:

[/b]rl=http://www.online-literature.com/swift/947/]A Modest Proposal[/u[u]rl]

My post takes forever to go up or even fails. This happens regardless of the website I'm linking to, I just always have to retry posting it 10-20x or just cut out the link.

That's weird. I don't have that problem, so I don't think it's an LF issue.

I just tried to post that exact link, copy and paste into quick-reply (and later "Go Advanced") and it failed each time. But this current post will go through immediately since its devoid of a link. I wonder if anyone else has the problem, maybe people who are not mods/admins? I never have this problem on any other forum.

My computer won't even let me load that page. Apparently, there's a "detectable threat" there.

What's up with that?

Not sure, I get "detectable threat" alerts so often that its meaningless, and almost always inaccurate. I just tried it with Yahoo and it still fails:

^^^That loaded in four seconds. I cut it directly out of the address bar, without the URL tags. Can you give that a shot and see if it works?

Without URL tags it works, with URL tags it gets stuck in the loading page until eventually I am redirected to a blank page and nothing is posted.

I think there is just a problem with using [url= tags. Can you try posting with a URL= tag?

http://www.google.com/

That took a little longer, about 9 seconds.

No, I mean like, copy and paste this:

Google

Mine looked like that in the Reply window with the exception that the second part of the string also included the www. and the .com.

How are you getting that format? Aren't you clicking the link in the Reply box, the one that looks like a planet Earth with a link icon?

The problem seems to be getting it inserted into a <ref> tag, from a quick look at the source code for the page. Here was the html I used to make it look like post#17 (spaces in the URL so it shows)

[U R L ="http://www.beautydesign.com"]http://www.beautydesign.com[/URL]

Thats standard bbcode for forums, its the way all links used to work on this forum. When I use the link creator from the forum, I get:

http://www.google.com/

The difference here being the quotation marks added. Either way, with the quotation marks, using the forum's recommended method, it still won't work. I can't post it like that, only without any added tags.

This forum needs to have a way to use links without seeing the full link length and, instead, having a quick description text. For some reason its not able to.

[URL="URL Location"]Descriptive Text (][/url)

Somethings not functioning correctly.

Shrug. Takes less characters to just copy the link like Giga & I are doing. Good luck.

It can show short link descriptions. Try looking at what the forum does when you post a link to someone else's thread:

I copied the huge link from the url window in my browser and got just this^

just copy and paste the link directly from the url. you don't need those [ for it to work perfectly.

there is a "Automatically retrieve titles from external links" under Additional Options right after the postbox.(if you hit post reply or new thread")

That will disable the retrieve and cut down on the time to post ..(i realise that) :D

As for url, it is disable, i think..
