    moving to another land...

i'm moving to another country next year and i have a boyfriend of 7 months. he's my first bf... i don't think i can leave him... i've been depressed and have been crying every night... my eyes are really swollen and puffy, someone's going to notice and say something soon because i've been telling everyone that i just didn't get enough sleep, that it's nothing to worry about. i'm just 16, and i'm going to further my studies there, staying back because of my bf definitely isn't an excuse for my parents as i know my future is more important... it's just that after all those moments we had together... i mean, he's the 1st guy who held my hand, i gave him my 1st kiss... i can't face the fact that i'm going to leave him... everyone says we lookalike and that we're a match made in heaven... i can't bring myself to tell him and it's not fair to ask him to wait for me... i'm losing ground, i don't know what to do... can somebody help me please?

It's harsh isn't it? Life isn't fair kiddo. I know of another couple who went through exactly what you're going through... He moved to Switzerland and she stayed here.

It was rough for both of them, but they both got over it.

There's no easy way to go about it, and there's no easy answer.

    I am sorry.

yes, i think that in this type of situation it's hard because the decision is being made for you. however i would suggest that you fact the facts and realize that you're probably never going to see him again after the move. i dunno what other way to break it down to you other than the truth. raverboy

It'll be hard, but you'll get over it. The first boyfriend/girlfriend is the hardest. My first girlfriend broke up with me cause I was moving to college 2000 miles away. If I had stayed at a local college, I KNOW she would've stayed with me, but I don't know if we'd still be together today.

But you know what, we broke up, and I found someone else, and we're doing great. It'll be tough, but you'll be ok.

i know i'll have to leave him... otherwise it'd be unfair for him. it's just that i feel like i'm losing control... i don't know if i can cope with it... he did offer to give a long distance relationship a shoot but i think it's a little too hard, don't you think?
thanks for the advice... you guys have been a big help!

Long distance relationships ARE hard. I went to a college in Colorado where people from around the world go to. The United States Air Force Academy. It's a four year military school. THe actual statistics, calculated every year, average out to 2%. That's to say that of all people who enter that college already in a previous relationship, 2% of them manage to exit the college with that same relationship.

Not good odds. And you are young, and he is young. And you both will be around other young people. Life is short, but there are tons of fish in the sea. So when you're ready, bait that hook and go fishing. (BTW, I'm great with corny metaphors and obscure comparisons).

Perhaps it's best just to look forward to what the future holds for you. Best to let this one go and move on.

yeah i would also second that on not having a long distance relationship. being that you're young and you never know if you'll return to this place, it's best to move on. raverboy

Excellent advice my friend. Sometimes you just have to move on but the memories will last a life time..
    Good luck kiddo.

Hmmm, it looks like you're in no position to choose anyway.

Don't force anything, this is the time for you to go with the flow, see where it gets you.

You two might wanna stay in touch and stay honest with each other, though. You might get together again after all - if it's meant to be.

Just like in the movies. Maybe even better.

No, no, no long term relationship! That would be a torture. Just keep in touch.

As for movies... he he... well, stranger things have happened.
    Time will tell.

    Cheers!
