Personal experience note: you can expose endothelial cells to almost anything in a petri dish & it will cause abnormal growth. Doesn't mean *anything* about what it will do in humans.

lol, too lazy to look it up a second time... In addition to additional stress on the kidneys, the overdilution of the blood's sodium content makes it hypotonic compared to the cells, and the cells (including brain cells) compensate by drawing in water. Then, the cells explode.
