| | | please diagnose rash on hand Well as I was driving today I noticed this little red patch on my hand. I thought it was a scratch. 8 hours later, it's beginning to look like this. I'm wondering if it's a side effect of the medication I am taking for a fungal infection (which is located somewhere else). I am 6 hours away from home, I really don't want to have to drive all the way back for a while. What do you think, what do you suggest? It's beginning to itch, but I almost don't even notice it. Feels dry and sticky.
edit: damn thing... please click on the link below to view the picture. http://img151.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000700xq4.jpg

| | | looks like a reaction to some sort of allergen. i would just take benadryl or some antihistamine and it will probably go away. | | The Following User Says Thank You to bohemiandonut For This Useful Post: | | |

| | | No one here can diagnose you. You need a doctor to diagnose. However, that is what my son's hands look like when his eczema acts up, and it gets MUCH worse.

| | | Thanks guys. I've been concerned for a while about myself... maybe I have eczema, or Psoriasis or something... you never know. Then again, it might be a side effect of the medicine I am taking. I'll give it a week before I do something about it.

| | Hahha! I was looking for a picture to post that showed an eczema outbreak, and I came across this: http://www.618ministries.com/healing_2.htm
(BTW - don't believe what you read.)

| | | Lol! Crazy people...
The rash on my hand, thankfully is not that severe. Compared to the pictures, what I have looks like an irritation.

| | | If it IS eczema, you have the early signs, but for many people, it progresses to what that picture shows (and worse).

| | | Ahh, I really hope I don't have that. I'd be really self conscious then.

| | | If it is eczema, the key is to prevent dry skin, which is actually harder than you think with that condition. Use a lot of GOOD moisturizer, and follow it up with one that has petroleum jelly in it, which will help prevent water loss.
Also, if you have any allergies, they act as a trigger.
If it gets really bad, you may have to move on to cortisone creams, but that should be a last resort because it causes thinning of the skin.

| | | Well it seems to have faded away for the most part, still little red blotches, but they've certainly faded to half the saturation they were last night.

| | | Thought I'd do a follow-up. Well, my fungal infection has gone almost completely away, and the rash on my hand disappeared the next day.
