You probably just feel like you are dreaming all night long. Did you know that an entire dream, that feels like it has taken hours, can happen all within the span of a few short seconds in your brain? That's pretty cool. So you may not be experiencing the same amount of dream time as you think you are waking time. It's normal for your brain to dip in and our of REM and nREM. You just don't remember the nREM.
Other cultures place a high value on dreams. Dreams were insights to their waking worlds. I know you don't hold much regard for things like dream prophecy, and what-not. But maybe your dreams are an insight to something that is going on within you personally? Dreaming is necessary, and yet there is no explanation as to why it happens.
I used to take Valerian root to help me sleep at night. You could probably get it at any natural food store. It's the root of that they use to make Valium. I don't take it anymore because I never dreamt with it and was feeling more tired from that effect. I now take a Melatonin supplement to help me sleep and I dream just fine with it. So if you really want to stop dreaming, try the Valerian root. Or just let it run it's course.

so i've been taking my herbs and i've been sleeping better. i'm still dreaming a lot but i'm not so tired and i don't feel like they're taking up my sleep time. i woke up with some more energy this morning.
one of the herbs in the forumula is ye jiao teng, which helps "dream disturbed sleep."

different state of mind
some people just have a very imaginative mind when they are sleeping. i don't find it to be a problem because i tend to dream about every other night. for the most parts, i don't remember them, but what i do, my my what stories i have to tell my friends.

it's the fact that i dream all night. it's too much. it's too long. excessive. it's not as great as you guys think, trust me.

sharp cheddar is the best... extra sharp if you've got it.
however, dreams may seem like they last all night long, however on studies, they usually only last about 15 mintues at most. but you can dream many different little dreams through the entire night. what is so bad about watching tv while you're sleeping though? that's how i think of dreaming.

i had a dream the other night about frizbeee. he came to pick me up and went to this burger/beer place. my pants were super baggy and were falling down in the back and frizbeee grabbed my ass!
