so i got a freakin speeding ticket taking my friend to court in texas. i was passing a line of like 10 semi trucks and the cop gets me coming the other direction going 9 miles over the speed limit. the cop was such a jerk . i think i'll try that thing carp suggested a long time ago...

anyway yeah 9 miles over the speed limit. now i have to drive all the way back to go to court myself over this. ugh. of course i never plea guilty so i don't have to pay that fine. i'm gonna try to get it dismissed. i hear the judge is nice. i'll just wear something cute.

oh yeah the guy also got me for not having my registration "on command". it ended up being in my purse the entire time and stupid me didn't bother to look in there. :duh: so i would've had to go back anyway. this is in tucumcari, nm btw, in case anyone cares.

9 mph over? I think by law they need to give you a grace period of 7 mph due to differences in speedometers.

Nah, I heard that is just a matter of courtesy Lloyd, at least in California. The guy probably just needed to write tickets that day.

I was in court last week for my wreckless Driving charge. Fun times. When caught speeding I purposefully pretend I have no registration or whatnot. Oftentimes they'll give me a ticket for that which is easy to get out of, and not issue a speeding ticket.

oh and thanks tone and lloyd you guys are sweet. i'm sure my poor self will be able to pay for it though, if i have to. which i don't think i will. i'm the kid of a lawyer and i'll venture to guess that we get off on about 95% of everything just because we know how to work it.
