| | | Contagious? Here's the deal. I'm going out tomorrow with a girl I've wanted to bang for about a year and half now. We're going to a fancy restaurant and then the horse track/casino for a little gambling fun. Following that, assuming we aren't filthy rich or dirt poor, we're going to be spending the night together at a hotel. The track is a ways away and we're gonna be drinking, plus, well, I'm horny.
Here's the problem: I had a real nasty cold last most of last week. So bad I could barely talk. As of now it's almost entirely gone. Almost. I have the slightest trace of a stuffy nose. Nothing anyone else could even detect. I don't want to get intimate with this girl if it means she's gonna wind up sick as a dog afterwards. Anyone know stuff about colds? Would it still be contagious at this stage? I mean, it's almost gone. Hell, with luck I might wake up 100% fine tomorrow, it's that close.
Grr. I have some of the worst luck imaginable. What do you guys think I should do? | | Loveforum Breaktime | | | | Loveforum also recommend - Green tea - Help in weight loss and decrease rate of getting cancer.

| | | Well, considering you're horny and you just wanna bang her, why not do it anyway?
Unless of course you intend on seeing/banging her again.
In any case, so long as she can't tell you're sick and does pick up something, she won't know it's from you.

| | | No, no, no. I actually kinda like this girl. We've been friends for a while now. I don't want to get her sick. Postponing the date would suck majorly. I'm leaving town this Tuesday. If we go on the date I'd have to avoid drinking and drive home late at night or stay at a hotel. There's no way in hell I can resist her if we wind up in a hotel together. I'm so very close to being over this bug. That's what makes it so painful. | |

| | | Here's the thing about me. I like women. I have lots of female friends. Friends are great. It's when it becomes something more than friendship that I want the hell out. Hence I avoid sleeping with women I actually like because it has been my experience that there is no better way to end a friendship. So I make friends with interesting women and find easy girls to satisfy my needs, which, despite my constant flirting, aren't really that prevalent. In this case I'm breaking my cardinal rule and fooling around with a girl that I really do like. As a friend. If/when it becomes serious I'll probably hit the road and lose a great friendship. Since I go to college out of town I'm hoping the time apart will prevent her from ever becoming too attached.. Judging from how incredibly jealous she's becoming, I'm quickly realizing that things aren't gonna work out as I'd hoped. It’s too late to jump back to our old friendship, so I may as well enjoy this while I can.
I'm weird and it's complicated, I know.

| | | as far as i know, this is the deal: when you have a cold, you're contagious a few days before symptoms show up, very contagious when you're at your worst, and then it gradually tapers off.
But chances are if you've touched her, kissed her, sneezed near her.. she's already go it, there's just a few incubation days before she'll notice.
Or even if you didn't- cold strains tend to get around. She'll probably get it anyway. or she's resilient and wont get it either way.
now stop worrying and go have fun!

| | | Yeah, I made out with my girl during Thanksgiving and she was so sick she couldn't walk at one point.
I came away unscathed.
She accuses me of sucking away her immune system, but I'll be back soon enough to give it back...

| | hehe how long now, fras?
that's true. some people just get it and some don't. the same thing just comes around. Gribble, your cold sounds like mine.. the mandatory stuffy nose combined with sore throat, lots of phlegm and coughing?

| | | Yeah, pretty much Tiay. Only the sore throat was real bad. I couldn't talk above a whisper and coughing was hell. I thought it was strep or something at first. Since I got the cold I've only come in contact with her once, and I kept my distance, so there's no way she could have gotten it from me as of yet. I'll try not to worry about it. Most likely I'll be fine in the morning.
It's hit this sleepy little town hard, though. Sent a woman to the hospital, and people at work have been calling out left and right. She's been lucky enough to avoid it thus far. She had bronchitis two months ago, just in time for her birthday. You can see why I really don't want her getting this bug, and especially not from me.

| | | see? it goes around- manifests itself differently of course, but it's the same basic thing. My mom actually burst a little blood vein in her eye from coughing so hard all the time. Looked very freaky. If the whole town has it, believe me, she's going to come in contact with it at some point anyway, unless she quarantines herself in a laboratory.

| | | Depending on the organism which caused it, a cold is contagious from 24 hours before onset of symptoms until 5 days after onset.
