There are rules in every society...unwritten rules sometimes. In my extreme example, chances are there will be a mother or father of a little one who will kick your ass if you decide to walk around naked in the park where they're trying to have a wholesome family day in the same park.

Marriage is sort of one of those unwritten things too...in most cultures still you are expected to eventually settle down with a nice wo/man and form a family and give your parents grandkids. It's not "do you want to get married?", it's "when are you gonna get married?".

Yeah, that mentality seems to be changing as we become more and more openly liberal as a society, but the influence is still too strong and, at least in my experience, most girls I know do still dream of eventually marrying some dude and having their whole dream wedding thing.

I try to use logic and go with the whole educated person's "this is nonesense" approach, but I see a movie featuring a beautiful wedding and I'd be lying if I said I didn't fantasize about having my own version of "American Wedding" (minus the Stiffler comedy).

I know that was learned behavior...you don't born with knowledge of such a wedding, but, hell, who we are is a function of both, your own personal nature and how our experiences have shaped us..in the end we all respond to the same stimulus in different ways anyway, right?

Still, my priority with a woman will be, if we're both happy with each other, the marriage thing is not as deep. If she's always dreamed of one, I'll really enjoy the experience. If I end up with a misombre-type-minded woman, it's all good! You know I like the traveling thing too!

I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you calling me "shit of the earth"?. You make no sense. There is one universal meaning of "respect" when it is used the way I used it. It is to show consideration and appreciation towards something. I have no respect towards cultural norms...and I do not have too.

What I meant was:

Just as you say, respect means "appreciation towards something" but as you suggested, we all have appreciation toward different things. You say you have no appreciation toward cultural norms.."no respect" for these things. Someone else might be the opposite way: they deeply respect cultural norms, thus making YOU disrespectful to them.

I wasn't saying YOU were the shit of the earth..I was saying it sucks that when someone gives you the "you're disrespectful" line, it pretty much puts you at the lowest level, for, as you say, if respect holds the positive "appreciation towards something" meaning, disrespectful holds quite the opposite (negative) meaning and nobody wants "disrespectful" as part of your character description.

That's all I was saying..that it's still a matter of personal definition, whatever you find worthy of appreciation.

Did that make sense?

I see marriage as a lifelong commitment to another person, who you WANT to share your life with. To someone who you WANT to raise a family with, and have there for you through everything.

Every person has their own opinion, but i think that if we are lucky enough to fall in love with a person that we can't see spending our lives without, then we should marry them and share our lives together. Why be lonley, with nothing but empty sex??

HAHA I find it funny when people make it sound like there are different types of sex. IT is all one and the same thing. Evolution did put a blind eye on some people though. They say "there is more to love and people then sex" ....ohhhh how wrong they are because sex is the one and only reason we fall in love in the first place. I also do not like it when people say " you will be lonely" because some people prefer to be alone. I don't care...call them un-social miss-fits all you want but I call them people who think better alone.

That is much more clear. I always figured that being dis-respectful is relative so I must agree with you. Showing respect and being dis-respectfull are two completely different things though.
