| | | Done this backwards Hi, i 'm posting my introduction here after being around for a couple of weeks.
I'm 28, from the UK, like life *normally*, I enjoy seeing my friends, helping people out, listening to their problems and being heard when I need to be.
I've lived up north all my life, enjoy where I live and the people that live in the area. I'm not quite a geordie, but newcastle's not that far away.
I'm a virgo and like things to be right, my grandfather (R.I.P.) who I lived with for many years and hold as one of my life role models always said if something's worth doing it worth doing well.
I've worked in a bunch of jobs since leaving university, some of them fairly crappy like in a blast freezer at minus 20, working in a food factory. I worked for the government for three and a half years, but can't tell you about any of that. I now get paid as monitoring and information officer for a national youth homelessness charity that helps about 500 homeless young people every night.
I studied applied science and forensics at university and came top of my class at accident investigation (ironicly didn't stop me driving my car head on in to a tree that didn't move an inch three years ago, car bounced back across the road and landed in a field, with me spending four weeks having to recover) and imaging science. I'm not a bad computer programmer, i like the indoors and the outdoors; there's some great mountains and scenery in the UK, i like summer and winter, but only when there's somewhere with a roaring fire to escape to when it gets too cold. Haven't been skiing in too long a time, must try and go again next year. Not hugely bothered by the rain, but hate wind - it's evil.
I've had a fair share of love's in my life, been there done that, got some great teeshirts. In the middle of November, one of these loves was said goodbye to and that will take me some time to heal.
I'd like to hang around in the LF, i've had some great comments from some brilliant people and I hope one day i'll be able to return the favour.
Richard

This was interesting to me as my husband is a forensic chemist. However, I am not sure it means the same thing there as it does here in America, since accident investigation is not something his lab would handle. Have you worked in forensic science? What is your degree in? (There aren't too many forensic guys out there right now, although the job is now becoming "hot" since CSI hit the television.)
Welcome, by the way... | |

| | only i slight smug hat on, but i was qualified before csi was on the tv. smug hat off
it was applied science and forensic measurement, more to do with physics than the chemistry side. we covered measurement systems, physical measurement, accident investigation, imaging science, a splattering of biology, anatomy and trauma, criminal law, along with some other teadious stuff i've forgotten most of.
i could never truly get my head around chemistry past advanced level, i kinda need to be able to see things and touch them, than imagine and not be able to feel it

| | | I started off hating you from the start.
But only because I confused you with an a$$hole who went by the name of "Iknoweverything".
We called him IKE for short.
Dun worry, it's all cleared up now.

Interesting field of work. Did you say you aren't working in that field? | |

| | | I did three years for my degree and am a Bachelor of Science. I now work helping homeless young people, ensuring services are commissioned and government strategy helps in giving them somewhere to stay, either temporarily or long term.
