Hey, there!
What can I say about me? I'm a big, big romantic, who believes (hopes) in eternal love and all that good stuff, though day after day I am confronted with disillusionment.

I've never been in a serious relationship, partly by fear of having my heart broken (lame excuse, I know) and partly because, well, I never had the guts to tell a guy I was interested in him. And well, perhaps I've never really been truly interested in a guy before. Whatever the reasons, I'm still waiting for my hero to show up. But I'm beginning to think maybe if my prince does not appear, maybe I should change strategy and go after him, which is why I'm here, on these forums.

Other than that, I'm studying in mathematics and physics. Yes, I know, that sounds like a desperate case: one of my college teachers, upon learning i was enrolled in a math degree told me that there was still hope for me, socially, afterwards!!! But as strange as that might sound, social life in math&phys is quite vibrant, and the best part is: there are a lot of guys and they're not all your average geek stereotype. But that's not why I'm in math: i'm in math because I'm a tiny bit geeky myself, and I'm lovin' it!

I'll end here by saying that I'm glad I discovered this forum and hope I'll have a good time here

PS: i actually discovered this while looking up the "kissing problem", which despite the name is a famous mathematical problem. If anybody cares, the question is to figure out how many spheres of a same radius you can arrange around a given sphere, and how.

umm.... what an intro... but life is an illusion, hence my sn.

as for the geeky part, yes you're probably a geek that loves to study all night long, doesn't go out on the weekends because you're playing with your ant colletion, and i'm sure that you haven't been in a relationship. now with all that out of the way, you're looking for your hero that won't come and you grow tired of waiting.

you don't have to change your life entire, but try adding some liquor to it. that's my philosophy for everything. get drunk and life's different from all angles. if that's your in your agenda, just being more social will help, but it all depends on what sorta guy you're looking for. if you want someone similar, then by all means keep talking to your group of friends and i'm sure that you will click with one, or maybe more of them. if you're looking for someone with different interest, then try new things... like drinking? it's a personal favorite of mines.

I happen to like geeky women. They're far more interesting than the ones who strive to be cool.

Hello, comp lex. Delighted to have you here. I like math too. And boys. I'm way older than you and have tons of experience and I STILL believe in true love.

If you find someone, we can help you get your nerve up.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

Griblle, I agree with you, and it's for the same reason I like geeky guys. I would like to take this opportunity though to undo some misconceptions about geeks. A geek is not somebody who wears glasses and dresses badly, does not go out, does not do sports, does not talk to non-geeks, spends 50% of his/her time in front of the computer and the other 50% reading or watching star trek, etc. A geek is simply somebody who finds a lot of enjoyment in intellectual pursuits (a lot more than an average person) This however is not at all exclusive of other pleasures of life.

In reply to Illusional, yes I often study late into the night, but no I don't have an ant collection with which I spend my weekends. I prefer for example going skiing on my weekends (as long as there's still some snow) But I do appreciate your effort at saving a poor geek from a lifetime of social rejection by suggesting drinking. Sincerely. I just don't think I'll take your advice. Though I by no means abstain from alcohol, I do not like to get drunk. And my social life is not that bad yet, but if it ever gets catastrophically inexistent, I'll reconsider your advice. But in the meanwhile, please, don't be so mean with us geeks: we have feelings too.

Gigabitch, you're encouraging. And I have a feeling I will soon need some help with getting my nerve up.

'Til then, ciao
