That's the third meaning I've found for this name so far. It's also a type of bamboo training weapon. The meaning I meant for it was the seperate meanings of the Japanese words, shin and ai. Shin means truth and ai means love. I didn't know it also meant don't die

I knew I heard of it! Shinai is the one they use for kendo, while us who do aikido use a bokken instead.

hrmm.... the japanese meaning of true is usually used in a different sense. what you are actually looking for would be 本当愛 in the kanji form or ほんとう あい. it's pronouces hontou ai (hontoooooo with the o being the long sound). it means to really love.
