Would that be Evanston, per chance?

Hey everyone.
These forums are pretty fun to read -- both the mature, responsible responses as well as the hilariously outrageous ones. I just thought that I should make my first post something about me rather than it be advice or criticism (or something).
Anyway, there's no harm in introducing myself, so why not start a new thread about me?
I'm a sixteen-year-old guy (yes young and naive). I go to a boarding school in suburb of Chicago -- my family's in Michigan -- and I'm looking forward to reading some more of these forums, but don't expect me to say much!![]()

Nope. Aurora -- the setting of such classics as Wayne's World? (Evanston's a good hour northeast of here).
I'm familiar with Evanston. Used to hang out at Northwestern University's library a lot. Speaking of libraries, there used to be a GREAT private library in Chicago: The Newberry Library. Came across a lot of stuff on Orson Welles there. AND: A play written by Pablo Picasso called "Desire Caught by the Tail." I imagine it's still there, venerable as it was. Might want to check it out sometime. (You'll need a credible academic reason to get in.) Great for any off the beaten path stuff.

...this is just my perspective on the situation...
whaywardj: Hey, that is actually interesting. Strange that I haven't heard a lot about it. I have a mentorship on the 9th floor of the Water Tower Place every Wednesday, which is just a few blocks down from that library (address found on their website). I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm downtown!
Illusional: Yes. It saddens me.
Hello! Welcome to the boards
Hm. Yes, it is right in the heart of the city. And, no, you wouldn't have heard a lot about it. Bit of a keep-to-themselves bunch. It's just off a charming little park where oddball orators used to and may still, literally, get on their soapboxes and hold forth. Sounds as if a visit there was meant to be...right about now. I mean, what are the odds an ex-Chicagoan in Alabama would happen to mention in his second post to your introduction thread a place of interest only a few blocks away from one of your regular stops? Bit of the Twilight Zone afoot, I'd hazard. The few times I went there, the library itself struck me as somewhat out of the Twilight Zone. Reminded me of The Cloisters in New York. Like both were parts of some secret society lurking in the background of everything.Originally Posted by Psycam
