It might be a bit....uncomfortable in a romantic situation. Obviously in a raunchy situation, it would help a lot. It's nice to know when you're aroused when someone is trying to arouse you, but in the other cases it might be a bit off putting. Just a personal opinion, though.

I'm not sure I've ever made out without getting a boner. I've also never had a girl mind it at all, like said above they tend to like it (if they even notice it if we're not going that far)

Most all men will get a boner when making out. Most all girls like it too. It lets a girl know that she is doing her job. DO NOT be ashamed of getting a boner when making out! Totally normal!

let's put it this way: if you get a boner when you are making out, and the girl likes it, she is good to go. if she doesn't like it, move back and say something like "i think we're moving to fast" or something like that. she will then think that you are mr. sensitive or something.
of course, this won't work with all girls ^_^ to each his own ^_^
