Why do you close your eyes while kissing?

When I first really got intimate I remember my ex caught me with my eyes open. I didn't know any better, she just flat out told me it's kind of creepy and you're supposed to keep your eyes closed. lol

It does seem weird to have your eyes closed since you would assume you'd want to see your partner.

I guess it just comes down to how close you are to them. When was the last time you were up in someones face just staring at them (not kissing). You dont because it is just weird.

When I kiss my eyes are usually closed but I'll kinda open them everyonce in awhile (if it is a long intimate kiss) and I'll take a quick glance at the girls beautiful face. I usually dont open my eyes all the way, it is more like a "sleepy" look. Hard to explain.
