Are these questions that ruin the present for no reason? I have heard both ways past stays in the past and past tells us the future?

| | | For one I think it's important to know how many partners they've had or at least how many with unprotected sex and if they have any STD's.
I have never asked anyone if they had any one night stands well because I date guys and I expect them to have done that I guess. But to me I don't care how many people they have slept with in the past or how many one night stands or even if they have had a threesome before....at least not in the beginning of a relationship. I asked those questions much later because I knew he would be comfortable telling me and I knew I would be comfortable hearing it. To this day, I don't know if my SO has cheated on any of his past girlfriends..I know awhile back I had my assumptions that he did it to me but personally I wouldn't hold it over his head either because I know he was never truly happy with any of his past relationships. I focus on the present and I don't dwell on the past..But that's just me

If they want to tell you about it, fine, but I don't really think that will play a role in their relationship with you. If they have cheated before might matter, like if they cheat in every relationshp and multiple times. Overall though you can't let what someone did before they even knew you effect what goes on in your relationship now. | |
