The Reappearing Ex
Hey all! It's been a while since I've been on the forum! Been crazy busy, but I have a new problem and am looking for some thoughts...

So, I've been dating "Mitch" now for a little over a month. Things are going good, but am definately not in love or anything. But now, my ex has reappeared in my life. I ran into him a few weeks ago at the bar for the first time since we broke up 9 months ago. We had a brief chat, he asked if my number was still the same, then we went on our separate ways. Well, last night he called me. It was exactly one year ago from last night that I gave him the ultimatum (we had been dating for 6 months and he still wouldn't call me his gf).

Anyway... not sure if that has anything to do with why he picked last night to call (or the fact that today is the dreaded V-day). So we talked for about 45 minutes and basically just caught up on stuff in our lives. I didn't mention anything about "Mitch" because I felt weird saying "oh, and by the way... I'm dating someone now." He made it obvious that he was single, although he didn't come out and say he wasn't dating anyone. Then he invited me to party with him in the city he now lives in. It's a few weeks away and I kind of want to go, but I'm not sure if I should.

First off, I'm not sure what his intentions are - to get back together or be friends. Second, if I go I'm worried that all the old feelings are going to come back, even though I'm the one that broke up with him. Third, I don't know what to tell "Mitch" if I go... I'm sure he wouldn't stop me, but he certainly wouldn't be thrilled about it.

Any thoughts or advice??? Does this sound like something a guy would do to become friends??? or rekindle an old relationship??? According to my ex's friend "Bob", my ex wants to start dating again, but I'm not sure that "Bob" really knows what he's talking about...

he probably sees his mistake and wants to get into your pants. If you like Mitch, don't go there.

I agree with DutchY.

Sounds like Plan A didn't work out for your ex and now he's falling back to what he knows.

chances are very high that he does want to get into your pants, like dutchboy said. chances that he's changed into someone you'd be happy with are not. so if you're insecure about your feelings, as you said, don't go unless you have changed into a person that's now willing to put up with a situation she wasn't a year ago.
