May I say I completely disagree
I do believe there is one person out there for everyone, set up "cosmically" or however you want to think of it, even before we were born. I also believe in monogamy... and am one of those old fashioned guys who actually believes that marriage is permanent, as in forever, eternal, suck-it-up-if-you-don't-get-along-for-a-while thing... Now, please no flaming, I am not bashing others who have different opinions, I am just stating mine for the heck of it
This "one" person, however, may not be as easy to spot and catch as we can comprehend... maybe he/she is more of an idea, a conceptualized "person" if you will, that we come to find within ourselves and sort of "impose" on someone else we find to be suitable... Finding this person, however, is no objective task. We may be 105% sure we have them, then someone else comes along who is far superior to the old one... there is always a bigger fish, and who knows how long that chain can continue. There is no physical, logical way to determine any of this; it must be a sense in the heart and the soul that some higer power meant for you to be with this person. Which does not mean that you should never date until you're like 60 and are sure you got him/her! But, yes, I do believe there is one person for me out there, maybe I have met her, maybe I haven't, maybe I never will... Try not to think too logically about the idea; you will run into walls left and right, because there is no logical way to have discourse in it; it is a spiritual, emotional trust and truth that we either embrace or reject. Again, these are my opinions, and I am not saying that they are objective truths; just individual truths that I have come to know and hold fast to.
