After first date: How long to wait to call?

So I went on this blind date (through a mutual acquaintance) with this girl (low key, just took her out for coffee) and we both had a good time I think. I told her I'd like to see her again and she said the same. I also said that I would call her and we'd go out again sometime soon.

I'm gonna be out of town from thursday until monday, so obviously we won't be doing anything this weekend. I think I'd like to get together with her the following weekend, but don't know that waiting a week or more to call is a good idea. I know there's the whole "wait 2-3 days thing"....then I've had friends who say they always call the girl the next day just to let them know that they had a good time with them the previous evening.

What do you think? Should I call her tomorrow and leave her a message (she'll probably be pretty busy most of the day), or wait 2 or 3 more days, or just wait until next week? If I called her tomorrow or something, I would just let her know that I had a great time with her and that the following weekend I'd like to see her again. Something like that, nothing big, and not setting any definite plans up yet.

Your opinions/thoughts?

Two to three days. Preferrably at the end of the second, in this case.

I think if you really liked her, it would be very nice to call her the next day and tell her you had a really good time. You can also tell her that you are going out of town for a few days, but didn't want her to think you weren't going to call, and tell her you were hoping to set some plans with her when you get back from you trip.

BTW - I think that 2-3 day rule only applies to the first time you call, not after you have already had a date.

Guys generally don't call for 2-3 days after asking for a girls phone number. Any sooner than that, and they risk looking too eager (or desperate), and any longer than that, and the girl will forget about him. I am told this is an American male "rule" that does not apply to foreign men.

After you have had a date, I think this "rule" no longer applies.

In my opinion, though, if you hav fantastic chemistry with someone, they will not care about this rule. Many people think it is stupid.

'My' rule has always been 4 days and despite going against most peoples views, it has always worked for me.

If you ring her the following day or even after a couple of days you sorta come across too keen. If you leave it a week you'll give the impression you have no interest at all.
