should i just ask her out?
ok so...I met this girl last year at school. She was a freshman and I was a junior in highschool. We talk every now and then over msn but other than that we don't see each other too much at school this year. I did kinda like this girl but last year I was a bit distracted by another girl. That's another story in itself but basically to make it short I've learned not to waste my time chasing after just one girl (especially when she's already got a boyfriend).

Anyways I've been meeting and noticing more girls this year and whenever I see this girl I met last year she always seems excited to see me and talk to me. Now....I've never asked a girl out before and I was thinking of asking this girl to a night at the bowling alley. I don't know if you would even consider it a date or if I really even like her but I need to stop waiting for the perfect opportunity. Do you think I should do it? Any advice on what I should do if we go?

Bowling on a first date? Unless either she REALLY likes bowling or you're all going with friends (no longer a date), don't do it.

I think you should ask her - after all you have nothing to loose. If you have any info what she likes etc. you should use that to be prepared for the date-bowling, go to the movies etc. And above all try not to give the impression of " I want us to be friends".

I think that sounds like a fine first date. This is a good way to do it:

You: Hey __________, what would you say if I were to ask you out on a date?

Her: _X_ Yes ___ No

You: Great! Do you like bowling? Or would you prefer ___________?

Her: I like ______________.

You: Sounds good - how does Friday night, 8:00 sound?

Her: Oh, I can't on Friday. I am washing my hair.

You: Oh, that's okay. When is good for you?

If you don't want to pay for dinner, be sure to invite her well past the normal dinner hour. Or, you can do what my kid does, and just date girls who look like they enjoy starving themselves to death. They never want food.

Smart boy. I think bowling is perfect if you're not sure about her. It's so casual. Just be sure you don't get her thinking she's your girlfriend all of a sudden, because it sounds like you might step back prettty quick. She could get hurt.

yeah that's what I was thinking because I am not quite sure about her. She may get hurt, it happens...at least I am giving her a chance. Also it is going to be sort of like a party with food and a band playing so it will be a little more exciting but still casual. The best part is i'm not really worried about a relationship, I just want to go out and have fun. If something develops I'll take it from there, if not I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Just go for it mate. You have nothing to lose. Women want men to approach them in most cases so put out her fire and make her a happy girl

Actually, I think what vashti said sounds like what normally happens.

She'll probably tell you when she is free so she can giggle and run back to tell all her friends.
