Does he mean it?

Would a guy post something like this on a forum if he didn't really mean it (i.e., just to try to impress other guys or something)? It was a car forum.. mostly guys. One guy had posted that he been dumped by his girlfriend the night before and this is what the guy I used to date posted in response to another guys comment on "friends with benefits":


[ah friends with benefits] "The only way to fly. Plus, with this kind of strategy, you get more than one! Variety... you know, it IS the spice of life."

When I was dating him he told me he was and liked being monogamous but I never believed him and always thought he was fooling around with his female "friends".. which is why the relationship ended (particularly after he went away alone with a female "friend" camping on my birthday).

WOW - I too would be completely taken aback by that!

Does he know you are part of that forum? If so ask him what the heck he's talking about. If not, it might have a creepy, stalkerish vibe to admit that you had read it.

It has been my expereince that where there is smoke there is fire. I dated someone in college that I always thought was cheating on me. All of "our" friends said I was CRAZY! Well guess what - when we broke up I found out he was cheating on me with anything in a skirt he could get him hands on! It was unbelievable. I was also shocked at how many people told me after we broke up that they were glad we had broken up because I seemed like such a nice girl that they couldn't imagine what I was doing with him!

Ok here is a guys imput -

He may add a little bit of a macho spin to it, but when he is talking to his guy friends he is probably more truthfull. Who knows though, I would be the first one to joke about somthing like that, but the last one to do it. If you thought he was cheating, and he says he was than most likely he was.
