Commitment - battle of the sexes

This idea was sparked by my current situation (which is described in more detail in the thread "how to be friends while waiting") and I thought I should put it up to a poll.

My current problem is that the girl whom I am quite smitten with (sorry, i just like that word) is afraid to commit to a serious relationship. Now, the stereotype is that men are always afraid of commitment, yet I, a guy who is looking for a relationship only if it's serious, can't seem to find a girlfriend. So who is it really that's afraid of commitment?

Shit - I selected Women and I meant to hit "both". Both sexes are affriad of commitment. Its not a factor of what your gender is.. It is a matter of where your state of mind is in your life. If someone is not ready for commitment, then they aren't ready. There is no forcing it. It just comes one day. Theperson will wake up and know that they want to be with someone. It's weird...
