What Should I Say

There is a guy at my church that I am pretty much best friends with. He is going to school in a different state then I am right now, but we are both about 2 hours away from home and each other. I really like him and want him to know how I feel. I need advice on whether or not to tell him or what else to do, should I just let him know that I am interested in him. I have really wanted to tell him this for a year or so now but never knew what to say. We have known each other for about 10 years and close friends for about 5. We do a lot of stuff together when we are both home. I think he likes me too, when we are together we talk a lot about many different things and we tease each other about stuff and encourage each other all the time.
So I guess I am asking what do you think would be the best thing to say? And what do you think of the girl saying something first.

in my personal opinion...i think it's better when the girl says something first. just seems..easier. yea..but anyway. just tell him something along the lines of:

"Hey (so and so) we've been friends for a long time, and you're a great friend to me. And i care for you, not only as a friend, but a little bit more than a friend. And if you feel the same, i think we should try a relationship and see how it goes."
