Right, i read your initial post shootinstar and a few of the replies. Sorry i missed this thread when it started because I have some very interesting stuff to say on this: The same thing happened to me, my boyfriend dumped me when things were shit in his life. It is the same scenario exactly.

We had no contact during the time we were apart, i got a new job and new friends and they all hated him because of what he did to me. Then he came after me again, first as friends and i hung out with him and our old mutual friends and then the confession came, i love you, i miss you im sorry for hurting you give me another chance i wont do it again i want you back...all the sweet things etc.

I gave it some thought and we got back together. The relationship is amazing and better than before, BUT i cannot get him leaving me out of my head. It hurts like crazy and even tho he treats me like a princess its still there. Im hoping time will heal eventually (we have only been back togther 5 months now) but i completely understand what your ex is going through. Most of my new friends are ok with him now, so I wouldnt worry about that being an issue, it really is the fact that you hurt her so bad.

Believe me I dont regret getting back with my boyfriend because I am the happiest ever, its just sometimes when im feeling down i dwell on what he did, and get upset and its essential that you understand it wont be easy!

MY relationship is in shambles, so don't know whether my advice is worth much at this point. That said, it sounds like she is still there. It doesn't sound like anything incontravertable happened between the two of you. Seems she could (and just might) understand what you were going through and still love you. I'd stick with her - if she doesn't come back, maybe there's more to it with her, but doesn't seem like it from your post. I wouldn't crowd her, but keep her reminded that you still love her - a little time will tell. Sounds about like what you're doing.
