e mail and no responce and dating

ok here my question, met this girl who was in one of my classes last semester she was waiting for the bus as i was, so i chit chatted with her about how she did in chinese language class,etc.....
we also chatted about what courses she took on the bus and sat beside each other on the bus. i never talked to this gal during class or anytime but i do recognizse her face from one of my classes-that why i started talking to her. as i was to get off my stop- i asked her to give me her e mail which she did, so i emailed her after 2 days-sayin hows it going, this and that and that i can help her with english-shes a int student from japan anyways i get no e mail -no responce, whats with this. i was thinkin of being freinds and making casual dating her.
it has happened to me before but with another gal, we exchanged e mail and msn addy to talk online - i said hi and no responce-this after like 6 x's but differe periods. ok why would they do this? should i have went for the number and would i make any differ-i mean they can just give u a fake #.
ok is also gettin a date or have a gal hang out with u these days-is it really that hard. seems like i can't pull nothing. i mean just going for a quiick bite at some cheap joint restaurant and go for a walk or rollerblade in summer with a gal. these gals are also just avg looking tooo i would say a 6 , 7 out of 10
