I really cannot go to sleep;
There's so much life to live.
There are places to go, things to see,
People to forgive.
I need more time to contemplate
All the "whys" amd "hows."
Why arn't humans born with wings?
How do leaves know when to fall?
My painting must be finished.
This book needs to be read.
I must stay up and watch the stars.
I cannot go to bed.
I'll go drink a glass of milk
Then listen to the night.
I don't care what hour it is;
I only know whats right.
When there are things I could be doing
I simply cannot rest with ease
So at night you'll find me busy
With my midnight potpourri.
