| | | | This is from the play by G.E. Lessing, called Nathan der Weise.
"Die Menschen sind nicht immer, was sie scheinen, doch selten etwas Besseres."
My translation:
"People are hardly ever what they appear to be, but seldom something better."
Exactly how it's put. I think it holds truth in this world.

Mark Twain.
Test scores aren't dropping because of video games, shitty music or horrible fashion trends. How many people, young or old, bother to read these days? Too damn few.

I'm currently reading 'The Communist Manifesto'; short & never read it, so was curious as to what all the hoo-hoo was about. "Working men of all countries unite!"

| | | I've always wanted to read the Manifesto in public just to see the reactions.
I've been reading the Aubrey-Maturin series. Excellent historical fiction. Master & Commander, the Russel Crow movie, was based off it. Got the full Sherlock Holmes collection, too. And before that I read the Worst Hard Time. A book focusing on the people who lived through the Dust Bowl.

I said you have to explain the quote (either its meaning or why you posted it). But, I know.... it's hard to understand my online accent...
