To wish for someone to pass me by
And to see not a soul
It leaves my heart empty
I shall walk this lonely road everlasting

As I rest I feel at peace
But as I wake I realize what I have

Why must I walk this lonely road?

Very heart-felt, I must say. It's chock-full of pure emotions, but that's why i like it so much. You did a good job, and gave proof that a poem does not require a rhyme scheme to be awesome (I myself like rhyming, but there is always the occasional exceptional non-rhyming poem).

you know i've actually gotten that response more than you would expect. when i wrote it I was very sad because a girl had hurt me. and the poem was meant to be sad, what exactly gives you a good feeling about it?
