As you drew close to me
The scent of your hands
Fragrant, intoxicating
The lightness of your lips
As they caress my cheeks
The touches of your fingers,
Stirring emotions in my heart
You unlocked the door
To free me from this cage
“Fly away,” you whispered
And beckoned me to leave
How I can fly away
When you’re still holding me
Cradling me in your palm
Fearful to let me go
Release me, I sing my song
Open your hands and free my wings
So I can soar to the sky
And be free from you.
