I hadn't thought of their music as "sad", so much as cynical, social criticism, or even despairing. (A LOT of it probably reflects Bob Dylan, even the material he didn't actually compose.) Especially the "Bookends" and "Sounds of Silence" albums, more than the later stuff. | |

Nah, that is the music is technically of my mother's generation, but I still love it. Anyway, I think labels such as "despairing" and "social criticsm" sort of implies it is sad. It makes me sad, anyway.
I like a lot of the music of the late 60s/early 70s specifically because of it's social criticism.
