| | | Notstalgia May be a silly idea to some but at the moment I am buying DVD's of old Children programs I used to watch on TV, old photos, Videos from holiday, old films, old exercise books and eventually a journal. I'm then going to place it all into a massive box then seal it up and stick it in the attic. Then from ten - twenty years from now repopen it.
Anyways, what makes you feel nostalgic? How important is nostalgia to you? Is it a good thing? a bad thing? do you find yourself getting random memories from your childhood that makes you go "z0mg"?

| | | I have stuff from when I was younger or in high school. I don't think its funny to hold onto stuff that is meaningful. Its funny because I even have journals from back in the day. Boy, was I young and niave. Its fun to pull all of that stuff out and have a good laugh every now and then.
Have you guys ever had anything else that brought back a memory? Like say maybe a scent of a perfume or a song you hear? Its like you can smell it or listen to it and it puts you back in that time frame.

| | | Reading through e-mails from ten years ago makes me nostalgic, as does reading through old journals, but there's nothing like music to pull me into the past. Some songs make me feel like I'm 11 years old again, just like that. (Back off, Zarathu, you perv.)

Lot's of things. FI, my mom's perfume. Everytime I smell it in a store or when someone else wears it I think of her. Or I hear a certain song I automatically think back to a certain person.

I don't know. It just happens unexpectedly. I don't mind so much. Unless it's bad memories of course, then it's a bad thing.

I'm sorry but what do you mean with "z0mg"? | |

It's really bizarre to have a bunch of memories come flooding out of nowhere.
On nostalgia overall, I think it can be dangerous. It's nice in many ways but a lot of people tend to try and get back to that time in their life and it's really unhealthy.

| | | For me, it's sounds (music) that take me back more than anything.
And it is dangerous, especially when now sucks so much and then was so much better.

| | | Awww, Fras. You're not feeling any better yet? Are you wallowing in nostalgia, listening to songs that kick your ass until you can't stand it any more? I do that sometimes.

I do that sometimes. Sorry Giga, there's an issue I've been coping with (as much as I can considering its not really in my hands) that's affecting my life as a whole.
In other words, I can't move on with my life until this is done and there's nothing more I can do to move it along. Imagine having your life be put on pause while somebody goes to use the bathroom. You don't know what they're doin', or how long they'll be, you just gotta sit there and stare at the screen and try to occupy yourself in the mean time.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
It's what I live by.
It can also get pretty dreary.
