I know this is an old film but
did anyone else get emotional when Wilson got lost out to sea?
I thought it was sweet when Chuck befriended the ball - I felt so sorry for him.

I didn't quite get what happened to him at the end - did he get back with his wife or go with that girl who lived out in the middle of nowhere?

I remember that movie.

His wife got w/his friend & had a kid (I think). So he didn't want to disrupt their marriage. Very sad.

But then he ended up meeting that other chick at the end & got w/her, I think.

Good movie. I didn't get upset at the ball floating away, tho, lol.

Has anyone read about those recent studies where they put ppl in an isolated, pitch black room for a couple days & watched what they did? Interesting.

These aren't new studies btw. They were doing this stuff back in the 60s. I think the recent interest may be connected to the isolation work that is part of the mars mission training the ESA is due to start this year.

it wasn't that great a movie. the terminal is way better, and the best movie by tom hanks has got to be forest gump. that is one of my all time favourites.

there was a documentry about this on the other day. one guy who was isolated said that he tried to think of memories and other places but eventually they finish and its just nothingness.

according to the documentry the recent interest in this is due to isolation of prisoners. it makes them start believing what they're told, thus confessing to crimes they haven't committed.

one lady slept through the whole 3 days.

the fact that they were able to pull out at any time they wanted and the fact that they had a light switch (even though it wasn't on), showed it wasn't fully isolated.

i watched a doc on american prisons too. looks like everybody who went in came out gay.

That sounds quite interesting but I still don't see why they would isolate them in the first place - what kind of things were they expecting them to do in three days?

Yes. The original group is Canadian (military) & some of the work is related to modern concerns about things like Guantanamo Bay.

However, what I said about the ESA isn't in any news report. Its just something I happen to know about.
