| | | This may be a flame, but I'm completely honest in uttering it:
Lord of the Rings and Star Wars both (all 8) sucked. Utterly.
If I had to pick which was better it would end in a tie with both losing.

Lord of the Rings:
I simply found it boring. It was too long and not that appealing. I'll give props to the last part of the trilogy, which I found well-done, but overall, it wasn't a movie that captured my imagination.

| | Um........... i can see where your coming from as in the acting and all in Star Wars, yes the acting and all IMO are abit rubbish now but i think there just classic movies, but there not for everyone. I could quite happily sit down and watch Star Wars over and over again but i personally couldnt with Lotr's, i agree at times they were abit boring and did seem to drag on, as Illusional said the last 30 mins of more of the third one was pointless IMO it wasnt needed.

I found Sir Alec Guinness' portrayal of Ben Kenobi to be outstanding. Perhaps that is why Obi-Wan became my favourite character. I also felt Harrison Ford did an upstanding job as well. But it was the droids who stole the show; in all three of the originals. MVP, don't you think for it's time, (1977), A New Hope was incredible to watch? I mean, think about it. NOTHING like that had ever been done before. SciFi movies had terribly bad special effects and the stories lacked credible plots. The Star Wars Trilogy of the seventies had both. A believable plot, likeable characters and most of all AMAZING special effects. You have no idea what it was like to be a kid in the seventies, pay your money and take a seat to witness one of these movies. It paved the way for numerous science fiction flics to follow. Lucas raised the bar and this is why it became a cult following, of sorts. But I feel the two since then, (Episodes I and II) failed miserably in comparison.

| | | Before its time with Special Effects, undoubtedly. But acting-wise? I thought it was pretty bad. Especially the action sequences that felt so unbelievably fake. You're right tho, I didn't experience it as a young kid so I apply a wholly different lens to that movie. | |

| | I didnt experience Star Wars as a kid when it was first released as i am in my early 20s but i did watch then on tv when i was young, so in a sense i have grown up with them. I thought the characters in Star Wars were all cool, and i didnt really see anything wrong with the acting, but thats just my personal view. How did you find the acting in lotr's Mvplaya, as i dont want to be going off topic here, lol.
